Crownsavers Credit Union

Who we are

Crownsavers credit union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative. We provide savings and affordable loans to our members.

We launched our services in 1997. Since then, we have grown to play an integral role in our community. Originally known as Lewisham Employees' Credit Union, Crownsavers began by offering services to Lewisham Council. A few years later, we extended this to include Lewisham University Hospital and Lewisham College. Since 2009, Crownsavers' services have been available to anyone employed in the London Borough of Lewisham.

We conduct our business in a way that is ethical and contributes to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the communities we serve. We aim to help people to be in control of their personal finances. We re-invest the money we generate from loan's interest to provide services to our members.

Our services are similar to those provided by most banks. The difference is, our members are our shareholders. Every one has an equal say on credit union matters by voting at our Annual General Meetings, and we elect our Board of Directors from within the membership too.

The board are all volunteers who work on behalf of the members to oversee the strategy, direction and compliance of the credit union. If you’re interested in joining the Crownsavers board, find out more by clicking here.
